Kodak Alaris Launches New Network Scanning Solutions, Placing Channel Partners on Fast Track to Growth

Kodak Alaris is launching a new wave of network-connected scanning solutions aimed at tackling the most difficult pain points organizations face when onboarding information into line-of-business applications. The Alaris INfuse Smart Connected Scanning Solutionand the Kodak Scan Station 730EX Plus Scannerautomate business processes by seamlessly connecting document capture to existing business systems and the cloud. Benefits include fewer touchpoints and less human error, making the entire information capture process smarter and more efficient.

The Alaris INfuse Solution integrates directly with enterprise applications and enables customers to carry out tasks in hours which, in the past, may have taken days to complete. INfuse also offers an unprecedented opportunity for channel partners to engage with customers to streamline expensive business processes and quickly grow new revenue streams.

The inspiration for INfuse comes directly from channel partner and end user feedback. Solution providers need cost-effective ways to install and manage a fleet of devices while helping enterprise customers efficiently and correctly onboard information into business processes. To address these needs, the Alaris INfuse Solution includes three key components.

Alaris AX INfuse Scanner product photography, BPO, Service Bureau
  • Partner Software Application– An Alaris channel partner or solution provider (typically an ISV or Integrator) provides a cloud-based enterprise solution such as invoice processing, medical records management, or customer account management. The partner’s software or line-of-business application integrates with Alaris APIs.
  • INfuse Management Software – INfuse Management Software provides easy end-user set-up, remote configuration and fleet management through a bi-directional API provided by Alaris. End users simply scan a smart set-up sheet provided by the partner and they are up and running with no training required, which slashes upfront and ongoing management costs.
  • INfuse AX Scanner – A smart network scanning device requiring no PC or software/drivers that accurately and securely transfers data, metadata and finished image files directly into a business process. INfuse offers enterprise-level security, including a separate data path and control path to isolate confidential content for secure transmission. The INfuse AX Scanner can be configured to carry the partner’s branding on its display.

The INfuse Solution seamlessly connects to the Alaris partner’s business process and enables end users to onboard content directly into that workflow. When a scan is successfully transmitted and form fields are validated, the end user receives real-time acknowledgement and immediate exception notifications. This means missing forms, signatures, and other critical information can be detected and corrected instantly, saving money and improving employee productivity.

“Exception handling and the opportunity for immediate corrective action is critical,” said Don Lofstrom, President & General Manager, Alaris, a Kodak Alaris business. “Reconstructing and re-scanning documents is difficult and costly. Bi-directional communication enabled by Alaris APIs is a game changer. It places INfuse in a category by itself – a smart, connected scanning solution with IoT capabilities for today’s information capture market.”

“The Alaris INfuse Solution presents a tremendous opportunity to deliver value to our clients,” said Paul Szemplinski, Founder & CEO, Integrated Document Technologies, Inc. (IDT). “It gives us a stronger solution set that will allow us to develop deeper relationships and become a different type of BPO. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen in our 26 years of doing business.”

New Scan Station offers powerful features, unlimited integration options

Also new from Alaris is the Kodak Scan Station 730EX Plus Scanner. The Scan Station 730EX Plus is an integrated network scanner that securely automates document capture and allows for fully finished files to be scanned directly into business processes. Like INfuse, the Scan Station is a network-connected solution that sits at the edge of workflows and operates in a wide range of customer environments. It offers embedded Windows 10 IOT Enterprise Operating System and network domain authentication for secure log-in.

The new Scan Station is ideal for capture and advanced processing such as OCR, all done in the scanner. It is specifically designed for integrators to create custom solutions. Partner applications can be loaded on the scanner, extending the capture solution to address the unique needs of the partner and end user. The Scan Station is well-suited for customer-facing environments where MFPs, peripheral scanners and PCs don’t make operational or financial sense.

Real world benefits of edge capture

Onboarding content is most efficiently done “at the edge” of an organization, in distributed locations and at the first possible touch point. Until now, the added cost of host PCs, provisioning and ongoing support has made edge capture cost prohibitive for many organizations and partners. As a solution provider, it’s difficult, complex and costly to install and remotely manage hundreds or thousands of scanners at customer sites. The latest wave of network-connected solutions from Alaris offer simplified remote installation, device management and updating.

The Alaris INfuse Smart Connected Scanning Solution and the Scan Station 730EX Plus Scanner can be deployed in a wide range of industries and applications including BPOs, service bureaus, healthcare, retail invoicing, insurance records, human resources, legal, tax consulting, and general office environments. Data-Driven Bosch Jointly DevelopsInnovative Security Solution with NetApp

Bosch meets a higher level of security in video surveillance with NetApp data solutions.

NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP), the data authority for hybrid cloud, and Bosch Building Technologies, the expert for security, safety and communication solutions, haveannounced the details of their joint high-performance security solution. The Bosch Video Management System (BVMS) is using real-time data, AI and IoT power to build a safer, more secure world. This is achieved by integrating NetApp Hybrid Flash Arrayswith the Bosch Video Recording Manager (VRM) for a revolutionary concept of storage virtualization. The NetApp operating system is writing different data streams directly from the camera to the storage in a compact format and with high storage density. The result: video streams and storage capacity are ideally balanced and arebacked-up in such a way that the processes continue to run even if there is a hard disk failure. Moreover, the system allows for highest scalability.

Advantages of the data-driven partnership

Data andits availability are critical to Bosch Building Technologiesand its customers. Among other solutions, its extensive product portfolio includes solutions for video surveillance, intrusion detection, access control, fire detection and evacuation systems, that help empower their customers to build a safer, more secure world. To be able to reliably map and record events as well as objects, a security solution needs industry leading resolution, refresh rates, dynamics, and light sensitivity. However, data must also be manageable efficiently. This is why Bosch Building Technologieshas been working with NetApp since 2011.

“We work with NetApp because they are the data authority”, said Bernhard Schuster, executive vice president sales and marketing at Building Technologies. “NetApp offers the technologies that ensure that our systems are up and running and makes managing large data volumes easy with maximum reliability while lowering costs.”

However, the digital vision of the Bosch team goes beyond security. For use at airports, company premises, hotel complexes and stadiums, recording alone does not do the job.

“Our video systems process image data in real time,” said Schuster. “Sharing the information with your security and other enterprise systems, such as warehouse or manufacturing is key for improving security and reducing costs.”

Greater security and efficiency can be achieved by a seamless transfer of data to higher-level systems. By adding IoT and AI, intelligent functions from sensor to connectivity turn the camera into an even smarter device that delivers valuable information in a digital infrastructure. Additional to the forensic capabilities of the system, suspicious activities are detected in real time by the device’s algorithm. This can include the detection of inventory theft, tracking missing shipments in large warehouses, or flame and smoke detection in seconds. That in turn enables the security operators to act quickly and efficiently.

High standards: security and efficiency in video surveillance

What is special about the joint solution is the unique integration of Bosch Video Recording Manager (VRM) and NetApp E-Series Hybrid Flash Arrays as part of BVMS. The NetApp operating system is writing the data stream directly to the storage. By means of virtualization, all disks can be managed by the solution as one large storage pool. Like this, the VRM can automatically balance video streams and storage capacity ideally, and back it up in such a way that the processes continue to run even in the event of a hard disk failure. The solution includes the following features:

  • Robust technology in a compact format and high-storage density on 12TB disks.
  • High integration for low complexity and maximum availability enables mapping of highly specific workloads.
  • High availability of data as two camera streams are recorded simultaneously in different recording qualities and sent to physically separated locations.
  • High scalability thanks to an entry-level range of complex environments with 200 cameras. There is virtually no limit to the number of cameras that can be mounted on top, as additional storage space can be added via BVMS.

“We are excited that NetApp technology is helping Bosch to achieve its data-driven vision of security”, said Alexander Wallner, senior vice president and general manager EMEA, NetApp.By leveraging NetApp technology, Bosch Video Recording Manager solution is further enhanced, resulting in a high-performance, flexible, scalable and reliable storage management solution for IP network video recording.”

Bernhard Schusteradded: “With the help of NetApp and the power of data, we are pushing security to the next level.”

EVO R6 revealed in Cannes

Evo R6 render.png

Europe’s most important Boat Show is the ideal location for EVO YACHTS to reveal Evo R6. This surprising and innovative walk around, almost 18 meters in length, will be given its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 10 to 15. The highly appealing new flagship designed by Valerio Rivellini retains the extending side walls that have brought the shipyard fame and amazes with clean lines, plenty of space and, most importantly, the incredible flexibility of the interior and exterior spaces.

The experience of EVO Yachts and the design flair of Valerio Rivellini come together to create Evo R6: a 18 meters yacht that opens up new horizons in the yachting world and puts the shipyard back into the spotlight.Maximum  flexibility of interpretation and use are two essential features of the new yacht from Evo.
The Neapolitan shipyard, which has gained a reputation right from the outset for models that stand out for their “convertibility”, advanced technology and appealing design, launches its innovative flagship (17.71 meters long, compared with the 13 meters of the previous 43) created under the banner of functional design. The clean aesthetic of the exteriors, featuring a vertical bow, high side walls and impeccably elegant finishings, is matched by spacious interiors.

The result achieved is the perfect balance between exteriors typically found on a walk around, so that the outdoor life can be enjoyed to the full all day, and interiors worthy of a cabin cruiser, with spaces that are roomy, comfortable, simple and refined. In this design too, a key role is played by settings that are remarkably versatile, with extending side walls that almost double the area available in the cockpit.

The exterior design, contemporary and innovative, creating an appealingly sporty silhouette. Aesthetics and function go hand in hand and care and attention have been lavished on every detail. The entire outdoor area is clad in teak, with four distinct spaces defined according to how they are used. In the stern there is the “Transformer”, a modular platform incorporated seamlessly into the beach area, which can be used to embark/disembark from/onto the dock, or alternatively as a sea ladder or diving platform, and even to help launch and haul up tenders and jet skis. The beach lounge has a huge walk around sun deck island in the center, which is all on the same level for comfort and safety and represents a unique feature in this category. The spacious sun deck has room under it for a tender, with two lockers provided for liferafts, water toys or Seabobs. This is also the area where the revolutionary signature feature of Evo Yachts can be found: at the touch of a digital switch, the “XTension” side walls open in a matter of seconds, increasing the space available by 40% and converting the beach lounge into a huge, exclusive private beach. While this appealing innovation is a feature of all Evo Yachts models, it is absolutely unique on the R6, because on a boat almost 18 meters long, the maximum beam with the side walls extended is close to that of a catamaran.

When designing this yacht, there was a special focus on the concepts of conviviality and versatility. Every area of the deck is designed to encourage interaction among guests and ensure that all aspects of the boat can be enjoyed, like the central section containing a spacious L-shaped sofa, a big chaise longue and a retractable LCD television. The backrests can be moved horizontally so that all guests, both forward and aft, can join in the conversation, including the driver. The open galley on deck features a table seating eight, while rotating one of the backrests creates a big C-shaped sofa around the table, which can be opened and increased in size if needed. The double-seat helm station is lightweight, almost suspended, with mirror-finish stainless steel detailing. The forward area offers a huge walk around sun deck and two facing sofas.

While the deck of the new R6 invites the owner and guests to spend as much time as possible in the open air, the real surprise comes when you explore the interiors, which are entered down a backlit steel staircase with suspended plexiglass surfaces. Featuring noble materials like teak, crystal glass, leather and fine fabrics, the settings can be customised and offer a dinette, a kitchen, a VIP cabin in the bow and an owner’s cabin in the stern. Alternatively, a three-cabin, two-bathroom layout is also available. Like every true yacht, R6 provides fully independent accommodation for a crew of one.

The choice of the Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system not only reduces the size of the engine room, but also gives the owner the maximum in terms of performance, reliability, sound-proofing, simplicity of use, reduced consumption and navigation safety.

The two Volvo Penta IPS units offer a choice between 625 hp (IPS 800) and 725 hp (IPS 950) and, at maximum power, drive the motor yacht to a remarkable top speed of 36 knots and a cruising speed of about 28 knots.

Evo Yachts will be attending the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival
from September 10th to 15th.

Airbus celebrates 50 years of Pioneering Progress

Airbus has launched a global campaign celebrating the company’s

50 year anniversary, showcasing key moments of pioneering progress throughout the past five decades. The campaign begins today by marking 50 years since the French Minister of Transport, Jean Chamant and the German Minister of Economic Affairs, Karl Schiller, signed an agreement at the 1969 Paris Air Show for the joint-development of the A300 aircraft, a first European twin-aisle twin-engine jet for medium-haul air travel.

Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus said: “Airbus’ story is one of ambition and progress, and has been a showcase of European integration. Over five decades, we have brought together civil and defence aviation businesses from throughout the continent. For 50 years, we have pioneered many firsts through our passion and innovation, transforming the industry and helping to move society forward. Airbus is a story of incredible men and women, a story of great achievements in the past and, above all, in the future.”

Running from 29 May to 17 July, the campaign will bring stories to life through new, engaging content published across Airbus channels. With a new story released each day, for 50 consecutive days, the campaign will highlight the people and ground-breaking innovations that have driven the company. The campaign shines a light on many different aspects of the Airbus business, including commercial aircraft, helicopters, space and defence, in addition to programmes and initiatives.

The 50th anniversary campaign also looks to the future, exploring how Airbus continues to shape the industry with pioneering innovations that address some of society’s most critical issues, whether that be pioneering electric flight to reduce emissions, digitising aerospace design, or developing new urban air mobility options.

Airbus industrial sites will also celebrate this milestone, starting in Toulouse with a fly over from the full Airbus Commercial Aircraft family accompanied by the Patrouille de France at 12:00pm today.
