Every week I select one eye candy image that inspires me and this week it was Azimut Yachts second unit of the 38-meter Azimut Grande Trideck. This revolutionary model offers an extra deck in addition to the three traditional ones, completing a visual effect of cascading terraces from the top of the Sundeck down to the sea. After writing about yachts for 17 years, very little impresses me but this unit ticked all the boxes as I studied the specs and the detailed imagery that we received in our mail recently.
The dynamic exterior lines are designed by Alberto Mancini while Achille Salvagni took care of the interiors. We came across the first unit of the new flagship of the Grande Collection at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Azimut Grande Trideck are the first triple-deckers ever built by Azimut Yachts and is a new symbol of the brand’s innovative DNA, from the Viareggio shipyard.
In a volume of less than 300 GT, the Trideck proposes a revolutionary layout, a less formal lifestyle, and an unusually close relationship with the sea for a superyacht. The Azimut Trideck is composed of three decks + One, because the shipyard, together with Exterior Designer Alberto Mancini, added an extra aft deck to the three traditional ones, which completes the stern social area while creating a stunning visual effect of cascading terraces from the Sundeck down to the sea.
This all-new feature brings with it a full height beach area and transforms the cockpit into a private patio, which invites the environment in through cut-outs in the fashion plates. The design allows for numerous relaxation areas that would be perfect for our evenings sailing across the coastline of Dubai as well.
The extensive interior spaces owe their elegant design to Achille Salvagni, who brought his world-famous air of wellbeing onboard the Trideck – with a less formal twist. The designer fully embraces the cause of the shipyard: to offer the market a redefinition of the role of space, giving new functionality to the onboard environments that are now more integrated with the external areas, to become extensions of one another, a harmonious continuum.
Beyond eye catching design and comfortable living areas, the Azimut Grande Trideck is built on a state-of-the-art naval architecture, the new second generation of the D2P (Displacement to Planing) hull, which was developed for smooth sailing and class-leading fuel economy by Pierluigi Ausonio of Studio Plana in collaboration with the Azimut|Benetti R&D Department.
Other factors which contribute to her superb seakeeping include the extensive use of carbon fiber to laminate the upper parts of the yacht, as well as stabilizer fins from CMC Marine, which are integrated efficiently thanks to their proprietary Argo software.
Grande Trideck has a dual-motor option, with a pair of MTUs of 2400 or 2600 hp each. The first model under test, with an engine of 2600 hp, recorded a maximum speed of 24 knots, a range of 700 miles at 19 knots and, at a cruising speed of 12 knots, an autonomy of over 1700 miles.

The brand has now delivered another Majesty 100, one of the best-selling models of its flagship superyacht brand that has gained acclaim globally for its innovative design, powerful performance, and massive interior volume.
Manufactured at the in-house design and production facility of Gulf Craft, the Majesty 100 will set off for the Turquoise Coast in Turkey and will cruise further on to the Mediterranean Sea. Designed to the specifications of the owner, it stands out for her exquisite exterior and interior design offering ample onboard space as well as a sky lounge on the upper deck which provides spectacular views of the sea.
Made of fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP), making her lightweight at 199 Gross Tons, the 31.7 metre (104 ft) Majesty 100 is powered by twin MAN 1,900 horsepower engines reaching a top speed of 20 knots. With a displacement of about 132 tonnes, the draft of just 1.65 metres (5 ft 5 in), enables easy cruising in shallow waters and giving effortless access to the pristine beaches along her journey.
With folding balconies on both sides of the cockpit, the Majesty 100’s interior features include floor-to-ceiling glazing in the main deck saloon and five spacious staterooms that can accommodate 10 guests and five crew members. Her raised wheelhouse has 270-degree vertical glass panels, a design-first by Gulf Craft, which offers the captain unobstructed views of the seascapes.
The Majesty 100 is compliant with the Maritime Coastguard Agency’s (MCA) LY3, the large commercial yacht code, which outlines specifications for structural strength, weathertight integrity, machinery and installation, safety management, and clean sea requirements, among others. She has an environmentally friendly water treatment solution supporting extended trips out to sea.
Majesty is one of the five brands of boats and yachts manufactured by Gulf Craft and includes its flagship Majesty 175, the world’s largest composite production superyacht, which marked its international premiere recently in Dubai.
“The 78 Fly is a cutting-edge yacht that is strategically positioned in the segment, midway between Azimut 72 and Azimut Grande 25METRI, and meets our customers’ growing expectations.” This is how Azimut Yachts CEO Marco Valle defined the latest model in the Flybridge Collection. A new entry in the CarbonTech generation, the yacht’s flybridge superstructure, roll-bar and hard top are all made from carbon fiber, as well as a section of the deck and the stern storage door.
Exterior lines
A quest for dynamism that takes its cue from car design and Umberto Boccioni
Futurism, the early nineteenth century movement that celebrated speed and dynamism, introducing concepts like simultaneity and surface interpenetration into contemporary architecture, was an important source of inspiration for the exterior design of the yacht. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, because the styling of the 78 Fly is the work of renowned designer Alberto Mancini, an eclectic talent trained in the cradle of car design (Istituto Europeo di Design, Turin) who has made “contamination” between the worlds of yacht and automotive design a signature feature of his work.
The Trieste-born designer, who has been proposing new ideas to the world of yachting for almost twenty years now, says that his special source of inspiration was Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916), whose Unique Forms of Continuity in Space made a big impression on him during a visit to MoMA in New York. Boccioni’s revolutionary sculpture, which rejected the tenets of classical art, is an alternation of cavities, raised sections, planes and voids, conveying a clear sense of movement. In the same way, Mancini is infusing the form of the 78 Fly with verve, creating the sensation of movement even in an object at rest. Sculptural tension permeates this boat, suffusing the design from bow to stern, from sea to sky. The striking use of split moulds spurs a quest for new forms – starting with the hull. The interplays of light and dark, of ribbing and surface markings lend the hull sides real character and spirit, in an endlessly fascinating play of lines. They taper at the bow to a cutting edge thrusting forward to the tip, searching for the horizon; at the stern, they rise in seamless union with the outline of the deck. Fibreglass takes the strain, replacing the traditional steel in creating a quite new kind of handrail, more flowing and sinuous than ever. The windscreen pillars ramp up from the bow, developing into a unique ring that encloses and embraces the entire flydeck as far as the stern, before continuing upward in a continual tension of curves in and out, of solids and voids, right to the top. The windows spring forward from the dark-coloured side buttresses’ lateral structureat the stern, forming the alphabet of a whole new language of style, surging irresistibly ahead to shape a support for the flydeck yet without ever touching it. Once again, they draw a horizontal line underscoring the yacht’s deceptively ample volumes and elegant, sporty soul. All told, the mission of Mancini’s meticulous and invaluable work, like a sculptor crafting exciting new shapes out of a block of uncut marble, was to give a yacht with such generous volumes as streamlined an appearance as possible.
Layout
The settings, privacy and comfort of a megayacht in 78 feet
One of the project’s main goals was to create spaces worthy of a larger yacht on one that is under 24 meters in length (23.6 meters to be precise, with a beam of 5.75 meters. The challenge thrown down by the Avigliana-based Shipyard has been taken up and won in no uncertain terms, so much so that its level of comfort and privacy is now one of the 78 Fly’s points of strength. This is the result not only of much more welcoming and spacious settings than on other yachts of the same size (not least because the superstructure’s sidewalls are almost vertical), but also of its silence and stability at sea, and finally of the clear separation of the owner and guest spaces from those used by the crew. As we will see, the crew quarters positioned in the bow, with access from the wheelhouse and galley, can be separated from the day area and the stairs down to the night space.
A fundamental contribution to achieving this level of comfort and convenience is made by the use of carbon fiber (which allows the creation of more generously spaced settings without increasing the overall weight of the yacht) and three IPS propulsion units, a solution which translates into a smaller engine room and reduced vibrations, delivering clear benefits in terms of space and comfort.
Analysing the layout in more detail, the galley is forward, next to the helmstation, with direct access to the crew area in the bow section of the lower deck. The galley, which also contains the crew mess, has a direct exit onto the side walkway too, while an interior door separates it from the lounge and the stairway leading down to the owner and guest cabins. The day area does away with the traditional separation of dining and living areas, resulting in great freedom of use. This is in part thanks to the dining table, which can be transformed if needed into a low coffee table, freeing up much more space and allowing easy movement between the two different sections of the living area. The big outdoor area in the stern is furnished with everything needed to spend long, lazy days in the open air, while the huge storage locker has a useful volume of 3.3 cubic meters. At the tip of the bow is a pleasing outdoor lounge with facing sofas and a sunpad.
The guest accommodation on the Lower Deck consists of two VIP cabins with double beds and big wardrobes, plus a twin-bed cabin, all with en-suite bathrooms. The owner’s full-beam suite amidships has a separate dressing room.
The crew area in the bow can be split into two spaces for more privacy.
The stern platform can accommodate a tender up to 3.90 meters long.
The Flybridge, finally, is a big space that can be furnished according to the owner’s preferences: the Shipyard proposes four options, with the stern section fitted alternatively with a big sunpad, a generous spa tub, a space with sofas or, finally, a sunbathing area with mobile BBQ.
Interior decor: sophisticated and welcoming settings, defined by bewitching curved lines
The interiors designed by Achille Salvagni will be available in two different versions.
The Lounge version presented at Cannes is the most innovative, featuring original blue lacquer elements paired with light colourways. The appeal of these settings derives from their original and refined atmosphere, obtained using the smooth, curved lines that are a hallmark of the Rome-based architect, who always strives to achieve a flowing, contemporary dynamic for which sharp straight edges are an anathema.
The living area, which does away with the traditional separation of dining and living spaces, is furnished as one extremely elegant setting, offering seamless movement between two comfortable and welcoming lounge zones, while the table in front of the sofa can be raised if needed.
For owners with more traditional tastes, there is also a version with a large table seating eight and an L-shaped sofa.
The full-height windows, taken together with furniture that seems suspended in midair, give these sophisticated, unusual spaces a strong personality, as is often the case in settings created by Salvagni, who has a passion for art and history and also extensive experience working on residential projects. The carpet is an innovative and original feature, with specially created geometrical designs forming novel decorative solutions.
The highest construction standards and leading edge technology
The yacht, which is also suitable for CE A and NMMA certification for boats under 24 meters, is designed and built to the highest standards in the sector and covered by the HTS High
Technical Standard declaration issued by the shipyard.
The yacht also features many solutions adopted in the framework of the ECS (Enhanced
Cruising Solutions) programme, ranging from the Garmin integrated control and monitoring system, customised to interface with multiple onboard utilities, and temperature synchronisation in the various onboard areas, to the joystick piloting and active trim control systems that automatically adjust the boat’s trim and ensure the best possible consumption efficiency at any speed.
Also worthy of note is the offering of innovative optionals, including the possibility of upgrading from traditional air conditioning to the air make-upsystems, for maximum air freshness even in closed and air-conditioned spaces.
Propulsion and performance: unique in its category
The 78 is the first yacht in the Flybridge Collection to be equipped with the tripleVolvo Penta IPS propulsion system. Azimut Yachts’ Innovation Lab recognised the potential of this system right from the outset and worked with a team of engineers from Volvo Penta to optimise the hull lines so that it could be fitted to various models.
In light of the success of this solution, Azimut Yachts has decided to equip the 78 with it too. The result is a significant reduction in both vibration and noise levels and in overall weight. The wider spacing between the outer units translates into superior handling and better acceleration.
The compact dimensions also mean that the engine room can be placed further aft, providing more space for accommodation and a layout that offers unexpected volumes for a yacht this size.
Two engine solutions will be available (three 1,200 or 1,350 hp engines), while the top speed is 33 knots.
Sunreef Yachts reveals the pictures of the luxury Sunreef 80 Grayone. This striking bespoke multihull craft boasts an imposing presence and refined style with her anthracite-grey hull and superstructure. Her custom-tailored interiors and outstanding alfresco lounging areas provide supreme comfort for both private getaways and high-end charters.
Grayone’s main deck houses a light-filled saloon with a dining area to portside and a comfortable lounging space to starboard with a large L-shaped sofa. Towards the bow portion of the saloon, there is a bar area with easy access to the yacht’s large foredeck lounge.
Sheltered from sun and wind, the aft cockpit boasts impressive proportions thanks to the Sunreef 80’s 11.5m beam. The area includes a raised dining table along with a movable sofa and chairs as well as a double daybed and wet bar.
The catamaran’s custom-designed hydraulic platform offers a fantastic spot for relaxation and watersports.
The flybridge is a vast and soothing retreat with numerous lounging, dining and sunning options along with a drinks bar with panoramic views. Grayone features a carbon mast and a boom with a jet-ski launching system.
The beautifully appointed interiors provide luxurious accommodation for up to 8 guests across 4 en-suite cabins with an elegant décor blending grey, black and cognac tones. The opulent master suite was fitted with a sofa, a double bed and a walk-in dressing as well as bathroom with a steam bath.
Two double cabins positioned forward in the port and starboard hull, provide a great level of comfort and ample storage. There is also a spacious twin cabin fitted with single beds. The catamaran’s galley is fully-equipped for top level service and features a refrigerated pantry with spacious shelving and freezers below decks.
Entertainment and sports gear on board include a Jet Ski, water skis, a floating swimming pool, an extra floating deck, pedal boards and fitness gear.
The Pearl 62 is to be showcased at the British Motor Yacht Show. Pearl Yachts will show the latest addition to the fleet in association with Berthon, the shipyard’s UK dealer. Not only are Pearl and Berthon proud to be British but interior designer Kelly Hoppen MBE and exterior designer Bill Dixon hail from the island nation as well, so it’s a homecoming event for Pearl Yachts.

The Luxurious Pearl 62
Measuring 18.6M, the new model features a finely styled exterior by revered British yacht designer Bill Dixon, with interior design by Kelly Hoppen. The Pearl 62 is the only yacht in this size class to offer accommodation for eight guests across four cabins, including a full beam owner’s suite with a private entrance – plus the owner’s choice of a crew cabin or jet ski garage. Designed around optimizing the owner’s experience, other highlights include an aft galley open to the cockpit, a vast flybridge, a foredeck lounge all with the benefit of Volvo IPS pod drive propulsion and joystick control.

The best loved sport-fly is now even more desirable. There are many reasons to fall in love with the new Riva 76’ Perseo, heir to and evolution of the multiple award-winning 76’ Perseo, which exceeds every expectation in terms of design, aesthetics, functionality, on-board liveability and performance.
The yacht was launched on Thursday May 27 in La Spezia, where the shipyard that produces the brand’s models from 76 to 130 feet is based.
“Only Riva can propel a legend into the future, because only Riva perfectly understands the codes of the brand’s tradition and its aesthetic and technological know-how,” said Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi. “The result is Riva 76’ Perseo Super, whose prodigious beauty radiates elegance and sportiness. Super by name and also in reality.”
With an overall length of 23.25 metres (76 ft) and a maximum beam of 5.75 metres (18 ft), the new Riva sport- fly is the result of collaboration between the Product Strategy Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari, designer Mauro Micheli, the founder of Officina Italiana Design with Sergio Beretta, and the Ferretti Group Engineering Department.
Over 40 square metres of glazed surfaces on the hull and in the superstructure characterise the yacht’s sleek profile and enhance the sporty look of the exterior styling. The mahogany and polished stainless steel detailing, which has both technical and design functions, pays stylistic tribute to the authentic Riva tradition.
In the cockpit, designed for maximum conviviality, the dining area can easily become a spacious sun pad when needed, by lowering the table for eight and covering it with cushions.
Perfectly integrated into the yacht’s aerodynamic lines, the sun deck offers a place both to relax in total privacy and to pilot the boat from a privileged position, with a generous central sun pad of about four square metres, while forward, the central section of the second helm station is flanked by sofas on both the port and starboard sides.
The refined combination of sand-coloured oak and light or dark lacquer is a distinctive feature of the entire main deck, as well as of the yacht’s interiors as a whole. The owner can also opt for rosewood as an alternative.
In the standard layout, Riva 76’ Perseo Super accommodates guests on the lower deck in three cabins, all with en-suite bathrooms, but the owner can also request a fourth cabin, configured as always to ensure optimum comfort and liveability. Completing the lower deck are a small lounge and a separate galley.
The entire area is designed to ensure the best possible acoustic insulation, with supplementary soundproofing in all the forward and aft walls of the owner’s suite.
Already sold, Riva 76’ Perseo Super is ready to reach her owner for a wonderful summer and then, in September, will visit the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021 for her official debut.
At an online presentation reserved for the press, Azimut Yachts unveiled its new Azimut Grande Trideck flagship, the brand’s first yacht with three decks and an expression of the DNA that continues to give the company its signature ability to innovate in terms of design, style and construction.
Azimut Grande Trideck has three decks “plus one”. “Plus one” because Trideck has an extra deck in the stern in addition to the traditional three. The result is a cascade of four staggered terraces descending from the Sun Deck to the water’s surface.
The launch of the new flagship also gave Azimut Yachts the chance to bring forward the introduction of A-LIVE, a cutting-edge multi-sensory immersive digital experience that makes use of 360-degree vision to allow online users to move around the yacht and, above all, to convey the sense of openness and contact with the water.
Azimut Yachts again makes use of new digital tools and the presentation offered an opportunity to introduce A-LIVE, the immersive digital experience available on the brand’s website from May 29. This state-of-the-art multi-sensory system makes use of 360-degree vision – complete with sound design and unexpected plays of light and reflection that reproduce the images and sounds of the waves, the wake and the wind – not only to allow online users to move freely around the yacht and find out about the distinctive features of its design and styling, but also to convey the sense of openness and contact with the water that in the past could only be experienced on board.
This immersive, dynamic tour of the yacht is also enhanced by a series of In-Depth Hotspots, which when clicked on play videos containing details about all the advanced technology on board.
A-LIVE therefore represents an evolution of the A-ROOM, the digital space introduced by Azimut Yachts in January for everyone interested in finding out about new products in detail.

Launched last week, May 19, 2021, Evo V8 is the new flagship in the Evo Yachts fleet, the famous brand owned by the Mercuri brothers’ Blue Emme Yachts.
The owner and the Evo Yachts team watched the traditional launch ceremony from the dock at the Torre Annunziata marina near Naples, celebrating the outcome of months of careful planning and construction work involving the shipyard’s engineers and craftsmen. With Evo V8, they have showcased the construction capabilities, attention to detail, and drive for innovation that have been a feature of Blu Emme Yachts right from the outset.
The most eagerly awaited arrivals this season include the new 24-metre model, which has a refined minimalist design and is set to amaze the market with its hi-tech content and original ideas. The construction of Evo V8 has marked a turning point for the company, said Production Manager Paolo D’Orazio: “During these hectic months, the shipyard’s team have worked on this ambitious project with dedication, passion and commitment.
The creation of Evo V8 is the result of an important period of growth for the shipyard and this fills us with pride. At the same time, the launch is also a point of departure towards new increasingly ambitious and innovative projects.”
Evo V8 represents a revolutionary experience, a point of intersection between suggestions from the two worlds of sailing and motor yachts, transforming our perception of the cruising experience.
Compact and provocative,the new entry in the Generation X range is second to none
Self-assured and defiant, with a slew of new features and an incredible 48 knots of power: Pershing 6X expresses the boldest and most daring side of the brand’s character, the side that always appeals to people who love excitement on the water. Compact but in no way incomplete, it packs all the best of the brand’s leading-edge technology into a compact form factor. It refuses to be intimidated and is ready to fight its side on a level playing field.
18.94 metres (about 62 ft) long and 4.80 metres (about 16 ft) wide, Pershing 6X is the result of collaboration between Ferretti Group’s Product Strategy Committee led by Mr. Piero Ferrari, the design firm headed by Fulvio De Simoni, and the Group’s Engineering Department.
EXTERIOR DESIGN AND MAIN FEATURES
Pershing 6X has an eye-catchingly sleek and streamlined appearance, with exterior styling that shares the same family feeling as the other Generation X models. The new yacht turns heads with its highly aerodynamic profile and large glazed surfaces in the hull that flood the lower deck with natural light.
The main novelties include style features that clearly reflect Pershing’s approach to design in recent years, further improving functional and comfort-related design goals without affecting outstanding performance. They include the new styling of the big aft sun pad, the carbon and teak table in the cockpit dining area, and the chaise longue with reclining backrest positioned forward.
INTERIOR DESIGN AND LAYOUT
The most important new feature on the main deck is the helm station, made up of a dashboard with two 19-inch monitors, carbon fibre control panels and an electro-hydraulic steering system. Also available is an innovative joystick coupled to the surface drive with various advanced operating modes, including ‘easy handling’ for ground-breaking manoeuvrability in ports and confined waters. A large sunroof opens over the dashboard to take cruising enjoyment to the next level.
The first Pershing 6X unit has a layout with three cabins – owner, forward VIP and starboard guest – and three bathrooms with separate shower. The guest bathroom, which can be entered both from the cabin and the lobby on the mezzanine, also acts as day toilet. On the left side of the hull is the galley, strategically positioned to benefit from various sources of natural light, including a ceiling window. The version for the American market has two cabins – owner and VIP – with a living space replacing the guest cabin.
Both versions have a crew cabin entered from the cockpit, with a single bed and integrated bathroom.
Among the other novel features are new rectangular portholes that look even more like real windows.
The materials used for the interiors of the new 6X are in perfect Pershing style, with extensive use of plain and lacquered wood for the furniture, parquet floors, Mastrotto and Poltrona Frau leathers, and mirrored panels in the owner’s cabin. The lighting system features new horizontal LED bars in the ceiling that match the decor based on alternating smooth and undulated surfaces.
PROPULSION AND TECHNOLOGY
Pershing 6X confirms the outstanding performance standards set by the entire X Range: a top speed of almost 48 knots and a cruising speed of about 42 knots, with a pair of 1,550 mhp MAN V12 1550 engines.
Last week, Lusben concluded the refit of “Morning Glory”, Perini Navi’s 48-meter sailing superyacht, famous for having the Australian telecommunications magnate Rupert Murdoch as a previous owner.
The historic ketch, built in 1993 at the iconic Perini Navi shipyard in Viareggio, has been restored to her original splendor according to the wishes of her new Italian owner. Through the Forza 3 company in Milan, Lusben was chosen to carry out the ten-year refit of the yacht.
The Lusben team was responsible for painting the hull, living areas and part of the aft cockpit, as well as replacing the generators and refurbishing almost half of the teak deck. The deck work in particular has allowed the shipyard’s specialized workers to highlight their experience and know-how; more than 40% of the teak was replaced with slats of variable length from 4.5 to 6 meters, a notoriously complex operation. The standard slats are typically much shorter at just 3 meters, and work of this type requires greater care and precision on sailing boats than on motor boats.
The refit went on for a total of 5 months and involved almost 50 workers in total, including direct employees and external suppliers who worked in cooperation with the crew. The incredible team effort earned the expressed interest and satisfaction of the owner, who is now ready cruise the Mediterranean.
“Morning Glory” is the first of 6 Perini Navi boats to be launched this season. The remaining 5 are currently undergoing refits at the Lusben facilities in Livorno and Viareggio, planned for delivery to their owners in the coming weeks.
Despite the severe limitations imposed by the global pandemic, careful planning of activities has allowed Lusben to stay on shedule. Operations within the site’s premises have progressed without delay; in fact, this year the turnaround has been faster than usual. At the Viareggio site alone, the number of boats peaked at 23, from 28 to 50 meters, occupying the work stations at sea and on land.
