Triple celebration for Audi in recent awards ceremonies. Best Plug-in hybrid has been awarded for both Audi production vehicles and concept vehicles at the eCar awards, the new TT has been awarded the Design Innovation of the year at the Automotive Brand Contest and the brand with the four rings also took first place with the RS6 Avant and the S1, at the sport auto awards.

Last week while running around preparing to travel to Los Angeles for a Hollywood Premiere of All You Need is Love, I stumble my tired soul into Dubai mall to meet with Eberhard & Co., renowned Swiss master creators of technically complex timepieces where they were unveiling a stunning collection of novelty pieces for fine watch lovers in the region.
Presenting this exquisite collection of highly exclusive master creations at the Manufacture’s exclusive point of sale at the Damas Les Exclusives boutique in Dubai Mall was Eberhard & Co. CEO, Mario Peserico. A delightful soul himself who was most gracious about me being late, he explained how each one of the unveiled timepieces represented different facets of the skills and innovativeness of their master craftsmen.
They certainly are outstanding examples of high-end mechanical watchmaking. The Novelties Collection includes creative reworking of some of the Manufacture’s renowned classics including the new Contograf, a reâedition of the 1960âs classic creation of the same name, which was an emblem of its era thanks to its innovative features.
Most of these original features have been maintained in the new 2014 edition, but there is no shortage of innovative details: the new ceramic bezel with unidirectional rotation serves as a frame for the tachymeter scale inspired by automotive design. The case back is screwedâin like in the original version and contains the inscription âTribute to Contograf â 1960sâ.
The date window at 6 oâclock has kept its particular trapezoidal shape. The innovations include the new metallic bracelet Chassis and an original black leather strap with a âred arrowâ embroidered detail. The deployment buckle DĂ©clic (Patented) is available as an accessory. The 8147 calibre (base ETA 7750 13ÂŒ) guarantees the reliability and precision that have made Eberhard & Co. one of the points of reference for mechanical chronographs.
Eberhard & Co. is offering the svelte Traversetolo watch in two new versions:  – a version with a white dial and a white secondâs counter highlighted by âazurĂ©eâ finish and a black profile. The profile of the minutes hand is also black and has an âazurĂ©eâ finish. The hour markers stand out as they are rhodium plated, rounded and inlaid with black superluminova, while the upper part has a diamond-shaped radius. A second version is black, with a black seconds counter highlighted by âazurĂ©eâ finish and a white profile. The profile of the minutes counter is also white.
Gilda, the timepiece that exudes feminine charm and provides the complete expression of the watchmakerâs refined and elegant world is presented in a new floral version. Gilda Floral has soft, harmonious lines enveloping a white mother of pearl dial with a delicate floral motif, finished with beautiful sapphires. In this new version the bezel, covered with 66 enchanting blue sapphires, frames the dial with a total of 112 precious stones and an elliptical case in white gold. The result is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and style.
Eberhard & Co.’s brand new interpretation of the Extra-fort model produced in an edition that is limited to just 150 pieces, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of noted Italian author Gabriele DâAnnunzioâs birth. An automatic chronograph with elegant and harmonious lines, a 41 mm steel case and a face that reflects the great personality of the man to whom it is dedicated: black with white contrasts, personalised with the authorâs signature, the 150th anniversary date and the famous motto âArdisco non ordiscoâ – in a Liberty style font â adorning the profile of the 30 minute chronograph counter at 3 oâclock. DâAnnunzioâs signature is also etched on the case back, which is closed with 6 screws. 50 m waterproof, this special Extra-fort is available with a crocodile strap or âChalinâ steel bracelet.
Chrono 4 is the first and only chronograph in the history of watchmaking with four aligned counters. This Registered Design is an aesthetic and functional innovation and represents a technical revolution thanks to the device developed and patented by Eberhard & Co. with sophisticated complexity. Indeed the entire mechanism operates using no fewer than 53 rubies. Never before had minutes, hours, 24 hours and seconds been arranged horizontally in a linear progression. Never before had reading the time felt so extraordinarily natural.
Eberhard & Co. now presents this all-time classic in three new versions. The first version has a white face, 4 white counters with a contrasting black outline and azuré finishing; the second version has a black face, 4 black counters with a contrasting white outline and azuré finishing; the third is a rugged all-black version with a black face, 4 black counters with a contrasting silvery outline and azuré finishing, as well as a red hand for 24- hour counter.

Living right across Citywalk Dubai has itâs perks â great location but not so great for my waistline especially when awesome food venues like the Burger Joint New York tempt the taste buds every time I pop out to get the groceries or to have my nails done.
Burger Joint New York, right next to the delectable Hummingbird Bakery, serves up classic, no fuss burgers. I went there with a group of friends and my little diva who gets excited about burgers since we hardly ever let her eat junk food.
The interior of the restaurant is very New York with a simple chilled out ambience, tables and walls covered in graffiti and big jars of pickles on display. Upstairs there is an outdoor terrace with better views of the Dubai skyline and Burj Khalifa than my bedroom across the road.
The staff handed part of a cardboard box with the menu on it and we could choose a regular or cheese burger and let them know how we wanted it cooked and what we wanted with it â The choice was lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickle, mayo, mustard and ketchup and if we wanted fires to go with it.
The quality of burger I had was superb and the fries were crispy served in a cute bag placed in a tray â very simple and practical.
The best part was the Brownie – it was warm and delightful and I did not share one bite with Little diva who seemed content with her own piece. Once full, we both took marker pens and ensured the world knew we were there.

Last month I was sent pictures of different watches from a friend whose next big future indulgence is going to be a luxury watch – one of them was a Longines. So when I received The latest addition to the brand’s  Heritage collection – The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph, I just had to blog it. Housing an exclusive calibre, this single push-piece chronograph is a re-issue of an earlier pilot’s watch and displays the time on a 24-hour scale.
Longines has been based in the market town of St. Imier since it was founded in 1832. As a tribute to its precious heritage, the Swiss watch producer takes its inspiration from the models in its museum to design watches that reflect its vast know-how.
St. Imier â a market town located in a valley in the Swiss Jura mountains. It was here that Longines was founded in 1832 and it is here also that, rooted in a rich history, the brand’s museum can be found. Very aware of its vast know-how and true to tradition, Longines likes to take the inspiration for new models, and in particular for the watches in its Heritage collection, from those on display in its museum. And so for its latest creation, the Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph, the brand has replicated the lines of one of its pilot watch dating from the 1950s.
The diameter of the original model, a magnificent 47.50 mm, has been reproduced, as well as the dial with its 24-hour scale, available in black or silver. The steel case has a closed back, decorated with Longines’ famous hourglass symbol, in use since 1867 and the oldest logo still in active use in its original form in the international registers of the World Intellectual Property Organisation. Each watch in this exceptional series is numbered.
The model on which this new creation is based was fitted with a calibre originally intended for a pocket watch and later adapted for use in a wrist-watch. The Longines Twenty-Four Hours Single Push-Piece Chronograph houses an L789 self-winding, mechanical movement. This new column-wheel chronograph calibre, produced exclusively for Longines, is an adaptation of Longines’ own single push-piece movement. It features a chronograph function, displays the time on a 24-hour scale, and has a small seconds at 18 o’clock plus a date aperture at 12 o’clock, at the bottom of the dial. It is fitted on a black or brown alligator strap to match the colour of the dial….check it out!

Fadwa Baruni, the renowned Arab designer, has unveiled the Summer 2014 Collection, which features some truly outstanding outfits for women this season. The collection stands out with elegant sleeveless long dresses with lace details as well as silk sleeveless dresses and long silk georgette dresses.
The key component of the collection are the ânight-outsâ, accentuated in colours of green, royal blue, fuchsia, gold, purple, lilac and black. Many of the pieces are made of silk with contrasting trims and lace details. The collection includes a few designs with contrasting waist bands or lacy fitted bodices and gathered skirts.
The collection is branded under the renowned âBaruniâ label that has gained wide attention in the GCC and Levant region in recent times.
